APPLICATION FOR ADADMISSION TO ADVANCE LEVEL CLASS 2023/2024
2017 is significant year for all the Sri Lankan Girl Guides since it’s the centenary celebration of the Sri Lankan Girl Guiding. Therefore throughout the year there’re have been many events to celebrate this significant year.
For a great start for a special year kick start on February 11th with the national award ceremony. Three of our Lawrentain Guide Lethonkie Fernando, Tattiyana Defontent & Nilisha Subasingha was awarded by the ‘President Guide Award’ the highest award of the Guiding branch. This award ceremony was organized by our teacher in charge and the Director of president guide award Miss. Asiri Withanage and the first event of the centenary celebration was held at BMICH.
On March 21st, 1917 Jannie Calvery opened the first company in Girls High School in Kandy hence 6000 Girl Guides gathered in the Bogambara, Kandy stadium to celebrate the centenary of the Sri Lankan Girl Guiding. 10 of Lawrentian Girl Guides attend to this remarkable event. Nicola Grinstead world board chairwoman of the World Association Girl Guides and Girl Scouts was the chief guest for this event.
Jumbo ’17 national eco camp was the last event for the centenary celebration. August 23rd to 27th the camp was held at Minneriya Army camp. The camp was filled with varies activity such as climbing the Sigiriya rock, visting the Diyakapilla eco village, Polonnaruwa ruins, Eco Safari and Nature trail. Not only outdoor activities but also indoor activities such as tie and dye, pottery painting, stop the violence programme and free begin me. Hasna, Buhuni Akurugoda, Jasmine Bandara, Shevon Herft, Fidaliya Fernando, Dlini Ranaweera and Neheya Stanley attend to this unforgettable event.
